Police said he was booked under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The suspect lived with the girl and her parents in Pimpri, police said, adding that, on March 19, when the girl's parents had gone out for work, the suspect raped her in their house.
"The girl did not reveal the incident to her mother as the suspect had threatened her," a police officer said.
However, when the suspect again harassed the girl on Friday, she informed her mother, who lodged the complaint.
Youth rapes 16-year-old, held
The Bharati Vidyapeeth police on Thursday arrested a 22-year-old man from Ambegaon Pathar for raping a 16-year-old girl when she was returning home from Dhankawdi after her tuition class last November.
The suspect forcibly took her to an open plot near a school in Ambegaon Pathar and raped her. However, the girl did not reveal it to her parents as the man had threatened her, an officer said.
"After the incident, the suspect would threaten her regularly over the phone, forbidding her from revealing the incident to her parents," he said.
Frustrated by his harassment, the girl on Thursday told her parents about the rape.
The girl's mother then lodged a complaint against the suspect. "We have arrested him under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the POCSO Act," the officer said.
