Kentucky State Police arrested a man on multiple sex charges for engaging with a child under the age of 12.
In a four-month investigation that began in January 2017, KSP found that between 2014 and 2017 Lester Carender Jr., 72 of Grand Rivers, Kentucky had continuous sexual conduct with a child under 12 years old.
Troopers executed a search warrant at Carender's home. They found marijuana, paraphernalia, and numerous firearms.
He's been charged with First Degree Rape (victim under 12 years old, Class A Felony), two counts of Second Degree Rape (Class C Felony), First Degree Sodomy (victim under 12 years old, Class A Felony), First Degree Sexual Abuse (victim under 12 years old, Class C Felony), First Degree Sexual Abuse (Class D Felony), Possession of Marijuana (Firearm Enhanced, Class A Misdemeanor), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Firearm Enhanced, Class D Felony).
Carender was lodged in the McCracken County Jail.

SOMERVILLE -- A township man was found guilty of first-degree aggravated sexual assault in Somerset County Superior Court on Friday for a 2014 incident involving a 12-year-old girl during a sleepover at her Manville home.
The week-long trial before Judge Angela Borkowski ended Thursday morning and the jury began deliberating that afternoon. Jurors returned with a verdict Friday afternoon. Defense attorney James Wronko said he plans to appeal the verdict.
MHLANGABEZWA Jack Ngwekazi (93) has been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for raping a 7-year-old girl in Nositha, near Margate.
He was sentenced on May 9 at the Port Shepstone Regional Court. The court heard that, on June 28 last year, the child was playing at a neighbour’s home with other children.
When the mother come back from running an errand, she noticed the children were no longer playing outside. She walked into the neighbour’s house and found her child walking out of the bedroom putting on her clothes.
The child told her mother that this was not the first time that the man had done this to her.
The matter was immediately reported to police and he was arrested. After several court appearances, Mhlangabezwa Jack Ngwekazi was found guilty and sentenced.
The investigating officer was Detective Constable Sibusiso Mqadi of Margate Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
