Man sentenced for raping 2-year-old, filming the act
SANTA ANA A Long Beach man was sentenced to 128 years to life in prison on Friday for sexually assaulting a two-year-old relative in her crib and filming the act, adding to his collection of more than 226,000 images and videos of child pornography, authorities said.
Ryan Michael Booth, 32, was convicted in March of more than a dozen felony counts including oral copulation or sexual penetration on a child 10 or younger, using an underage person for obscene matter, and possession of child pornography.
Orange County prosecutors said Booth began sexually assaulting the Costa Mesa girl when she was just a few months old.He filmed and photographed the acts and traded the images online for more child porn, Senior Deputy District Attorney Rick Zimmer wrote in court records.
In 2015, a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigating a child-porn ring spotted images of the girl. He alerted U.S. Department of Homeland Security after linking the images to an IP address in Long Beach.
Police searched Booth’s Long Beach home and under his bed they found a hard drive, computers, cameras, cell phones and digital-storage devices containing more than 220,000 images and 2,000 videos of child porn, Zimmer said.
The collection included images and four videos of the two-year-old relative. The videos showed Booth removing the girl’s diaper and sexually assaulting her in her crib as she screamed “No!” and “Stop!” court records show.
Booth, in a police interview, admitted to having, in the words of court records, a “sexual attraction to children since high school.”
