"Operation Southern Impact" Sexual exploitation of children in Alabama

A Jefferson County man arrested nine months ago in a two-state sexual exploitation of children operation is back behind bars again on similar charges.

Dennis James Hudson Jr., 26, was arrested Friday by investigators with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, according to court records made public Monday. Hudson was among 31 suspects arrested in November 2016 in Alabama and Georgia during Operation Southern Impact, a joint effort by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Hudson, of Center Point, at that time was charged with four counts of possession of child pornography. He was out of jail on bond, and his cases earlier this year were sent to a grand jury for indictment consideration.
On Friday, Hudson was arrested on a new charge of producing pornography with a minor. According to charging documents, Hudson did "willfully and knowingly film, print, record, photograph or otherwise produce an obscene matter, to wit: a digital image of breasts and/or vagina, that contains a visual depiction of a person under the age of 17 years engaged in an act of sad-masochistic abuse, sexual intercourse, sexual excitement, masturbation, breast nudity, genital nudity or other sexual conduct."
Hudson was booked into the Jefferson County Jail at 8:40 a.m. Friday. That same day, prosecutors requested, and were granted, a revocation of Hudson's bond on his 2016 charges.
He is now being held without bond pending a bond revocation review set for Aug. 24.

Jefferson County man, 26, arrested again on child pornography charges August 21, 2017

An investigation into sexual exploitation of children in Alabama and Georgia ended with the arrests of 31 people - nearly a dozen of them in Alabama.
Operation Southern Impact was a joint effort by the Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The law enforcement teams focus on those who possess and distribute child pornography and those who sexually exploit children in other ways using the internet, said ALEA Cpl. Jess Thornton.
162 digital devices were examined during the operation, and 731 digital devices seized as evidence. Additional charges and arrests could come after forensic analysis of seized digital devices.
"Cooperation is always important in law enforcement, but it is never more important than when we set out to protect children,'' Thornton said in a prepared statement. "Operation Southern Impact has given us an opportunity to share our experience, information, and resources across units, agencies, and state lines, to make sure that there is no safe place to hide for criminals who would victimize the most vulnerable among us."
